“Remember: the mind is always trying to trick us into a survival mindset! So never say never!” – Tony Robbins | Unshakeable
1. In the seeds of adversity there is an opportunity for greater benefit: How do you react to adversity?
Many years ago I took up the editorial office of a major news magazine in Nigeria. Abruptly and rather unexpectedly leadership had been dropped in my lap. It came with a certain amount of adversity. There were those in the organization who doubted my capability to lead. Work included steering the editorial direction of the news magazine week after week, I had to decide which stories were good enough to make the cover. And there were people in background who were saying I could not do it, even my immediate boss was critical of me, tagging me and doubting my expertise. I chose to ignore the critics and buried myself in my work knowing that subtly even my boss, the managing director had plans to replace me.
Within a couple of weeks I began to get the hang of it. Piecing together stories that sold the magazine and made people take notice that there was a person in here who even though it seemed he was a new and green he knew the job. Soon the naysayers began to change their opinion.

2.There is no such thing as failure there are only results and outcomes. Don't let pessimists poison your mind!
Everyone has failed to hit a target one time or the other. Failed in examinations, sales targets, meeting deadlines, the list is endless. But What is important is that we put in our very best. If we put in our utmost we have no regrets at the end of the day. We also need to note that no human being is labeled a failure, what we have are failed projects and missed opportunities. But even when these occur we can always dust ourselves off and try again or try something else.

3.What ever happens take responsibility. Create your space and take charge of it.
We live in a generation where leadership likes to pass the buck when things go wrong. Nobody seems to want to take responsibility whereas when there are successes we all want to share in the credit of it. Our minds should be set on creating our spaces and taking charge of it no matter whether things go right or wrong, we are in charge and rightfully so!

4.Its not necessary to understand everything to do what you want to do!
For whatever we want to do in life, we do not necessarily have to understand everything about it. This means being an expert in all the things we seek to do is not really necessary we can seek to master the core function of the activity or get people to work with us on whatever our plans are. This basically means we have to be good at managing human beings. Our own expertise couple with our relational skills will help us succeed. Many chief executives of major companies have had no basic training in what their organization's core function is, they simply are so good at relating with and motivating people that they succeed.
5. People are your greatest resource
Once we begin to realize that people and not machines or money(both are important) are our greatest resource we are bound to make headway in whatever we are leading. If you want to get the best out of people treat them right and they are bound to put in their best.
6. Work is play
Enjoying what you do in life is important. If you can see your work as a time of fascinating enjoyment then you will not work another day in your life. Work will become play. You will go to work every day determined to enjoy yourself.
7. \There is no success without commitment
How committed are you to your job or work. There is no success without total commitment. How committed are you to your work? How much time are you willing to put into it? What about the planning the process? Do you have a strategic plan for years ahead? Or are you only thinking of today? IF you truly want to succeed you need to be committed.
